| COATS! IN SUMMER... |
So as someone who really enjoys coats and uses them as some sort of layering piece in most every outfit I put together, it can be a bit hard to add them into your looks in summer when its almost 90 degrees outside and you don’t want to sweat your ass off during the day. Well I have found a solution that I’ve been really getting into which is wearing long coats with shorter shorts, one because I have the legs to show off but two it adds a great contrasting element to the look. The juxtaposition between something really short and something long breaks up the lines and makes the outfit feel more like it fits in with the climate that is outside and not so heavy like it belongs in winter.
Now don’t get me wrong this doesn’t mean you’ll be able to wear it all day because at noon it could be to hot and you need to take the jacket off, but for the most part it should allow you to stay cool while wearing something traditionally hot. Though again this might not be for everyone, for me however you will see it a lot through really any season especially in summer because I believe fashion has no season and if you feel like a jacket is necessary for your outfit then you should wear it whenever you want.
This Trench Coat was found in the women’s category on ASOS and I knew that I had to buy it because it was just something different than anything i’ve been seeing lately and I am a sucker for a good plaid. I knew that I wanted it to fit big so I got the size 16 and the arms are a bit short for me when I raise my arms but overall it fits very well and has the desired look I wanted to achieve. I styled it here with some maroon chino styled shorts in a shorter length with a simple oversized white t-shirt. This combination is a go to for many of my outfits because I really enjoy clean simple lines in a look that then plays with silhouette using different sizes and shapes. With this outfit in particular though I did it because I didn’t want to take away from the coat, which was the stand out piece, which is why the accessories were also very minimal.
I hope you all enjoy this look as much as I do; I also had so much fun shooting this outfit because the coat was just giving me so much life and dimension in every shot. I hope you are also enjoying the new more artistic photography that I am using and shooting now for the blog, I want it to be more about the styling and clothes and how you can put outfits together with things you potentially have in your own closets. Please comment and let me know what you think or things you’d like to see in the future.
